Fernando Alonso achieved his first victory of the year after winning the Singapore Grand Prix, in the first Formula One’s night race celebrated in the Marina Bay area of Singapore which took place last Sunday September 28th.

The winning podium was completed by German racer Nico Rosberg, who arrived in second place and the British Lewis Hamilton who arrived in third place.

Felipe Massa was comfortably winning the first part of the race after it took a complete spin in the 15th lap, when an accident which involved Brazilian racer Nelson Piquet Jr. changed the odds. Alonso was the one who took the greatest advantage of this accident; he started to make excellent times and opened a gap big enough to allow him a comfortable second stop.

But Alonso’s advantage was threatened when Adrian Sutil crashed his Force India against the wall and forced a new safety car to step in, smoking away the Spanish racer’s advantage when only 8 laps where left for the final. But besides this, there were no more surprises and Alonso managed to open a new gap and be the first one to cross under the winning flag.
